New Specialised ENT Clinic LORENT Opens in Mežaparks

A new specialised ear, nose and throat (ENT) clinic, LORENT, has opened at 18A Kokneses Prospekts, Mežaparks, Riga. The clinic provides a comprehensive range of ENT diagnostic and treatment services for both children and adults, bringing together the entire patient journey in a single location – from specialist consultations and diagnostic examinations to outpatient procedures, day-case surgery and postoperative care. The clinic was founded by otolaryngologist Dr. Rūdolfs Jānis Vīksne, MD, PhD, in cooperation with the healthcare platform MeDi Group and the OC VISION group. The total investment in the project amounts to EUR 2.5 million.

Ear, nose and throat conditions are among the most common health concerns affecting both children and adults. However, patients often need to seek consultations, diagnostics and treatment across multiple healthcare providers. LORENT was established to address this challenge by offering a complete ENT care pathway under one roof.

“ENT patients in Latvia often face a fragmented and exhausting treatment journey – a consultation in one place, diagnostics in another, and surgery somewhere else. Our goal is to eliminate this ‘medical logistics’ burden by providing patients with a clear and complete treatment pathway in one location, from the first consultation through postoperative follow-up. We want every patient to understand the cause of their health concern and leave the first consultation with a clear plan for the next steps in treatment,” says Dr. Rūdolfs Jānis Vīksne, MD, PhD, Founder, Head and Co-owner of LORENT.

From its opening, LORENT offers otolaryngology consultations for both adults and children, including consultations with highly qualified ENT specialists, including physicians holding doctoral degrees in medical science and a neuro-otologist. The clinic also features a modern diagnostic centre equipped to perform audiometry, tympanometry and otoacoustic emission testing, as well as endoscopic examinations of the nose, nasopharynx and larynx, and otomicroscopy.

The clinic also provides vestibular testing for patients with vertigo and balance disorders, as well as ambulatory sleep polygraphy for the assessment of sleep-related breathing disorders. The diagnostic and rehabilitation pathway is further complemented by speech and language therapy services, including rehabilitation of hearing, speech, voice and swallowing functions, as well as myofunctional therapy.

A broad range of ENT surgical procedures is performed in the clinic’s operating theatre and day-care unit. These include nasal septum and turbinate surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, tonsil and adenoid procedures, as well as ear and laryngeal surgery. Postoperative monitoring and follow-up care are provided within the same facility.

The new clinic occupies nearly 500 square metres and includes three outpatient consultation rooms, a fully equipped operating theatre and a day-care unit. LORENT is expected to provide more than 10,000 consultations annually, while ensuring a transparent patient pathway and clear communication at every stage of care.

A significant proportion of the investment has been allocated to advanced medical technologies that support more precise diagnostics and less invasive treatment options. The clinic is equipped with next-generation systems designed to improve treatment accuracy while minimising recovery times. Particular attention has also been paid to creating a child-friendly and psychologically safe environment, helping to reduce stress and support positive healthcare experiences for younger patients.

The opening of LORENT also marks an important milestone in the development of the healthcare investment platform MeDi Group. “LORENT is the first MeDi Group project to progress from concept to patient care. It reflects our belief that high-quality healthcare infrastructure in Latvia, professional management, and a patient-centred approach represent a sustainable investment in the development of the healthcare sector. We believe LORENT will serve as an important benchmark for future projects within the platform,” says Dins Šmits, Head of MeDi Group.

OC VISION highlights the close connection between hearing care and otolaryngology services. “Hearing is an essential component of quality of life. LORENT’s clinical expertise, combined with the Vision Express Hearing Centre network, will enable people with hearing impairment to access a comprehensive continuum of care – from hearing assessments and hearing aid fitting to medical and surgical treatment. This collaboration helps expand access to comprehensive hearing care services in Latvia,” says Gatis Kokins, Co-owner and Member of the Supervisory Board of OC VISION.

The clinic aims to establish itself as one of the leading centres for the diagnosis and treatment of ENT conditions in the Baltic region, promoting earlier diagnosis and helping reduce the impact of long-standing untreated conditions on patients’ quality of life.

LORENT is located at 18A Kokneses Prospekts, Mežaparks, Riga. Further information is available at www.lorent.lv. Medical Institution Registration Code: 001000433.
